CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXAMINATIONS

The main national awards in the examinations held by the Chamber of Commerce recently went to North Island candidates, but the New Zealand junior speed typing champion is Dorothy Jarvis, of Tirnaru. The following awards were made:— National Awards Chamber of Commerce Scholars.— Senior (17 years and under 19): Pauline Burbidge (Wellington), honours in. shorthand (80 words a minute), office practice, English, and junior typewriting, and passes in handwriting and senior typewriting. Junior (under 17): Colleen A. Bell (New Plymouth), honours in shorthand (80 words a minute), office practice, English; distinction in junior typewriting and arithmetic; passes in bookkeeping and handwriting. Snowden Fairfield Scholar.—Junior (under 17): Colleen J. Bell (Wanganui), honours in office practice, distinction in bookkeeping, passes in junior typewriting, handwriting, English, and arithmetic. Minor Centres’ Scholar.—Margaret J. Wollett (Putaruru), honours in shorthand (80 words a minute), arithmetic; passes in junior typewriting, bookkeeping, office practice, handwriting, and English.
