RAILWAY YARD AT WALTHAM

IMPROVED SIDING ACCOMMODATION (From Our Own Reporter) WELUNGTON, Dec. 20. The Minister of Bailways (Mr J. K. McAlpine) announced today that he had authorised the expenditure of nearly £3OOO on the provision of additional siding accommodation and improvements at the Waltham railway goods yard.

The unloading, sorting and delivery of steel, iron, and large cases which require to be lifted out of railway waggons by crane, have recently been hampered by an increasing number of heavy consignments received from ships. The provision Of an additional siding and the sealing of the nearby area will speed up deliveries of those consignments and improve the utilisation of railway waggons.
