DOCTOR CHARGED WITH MURDER
HEARING SET DOWN FOR JANUARY 6

The Lower Court hearing of the case in which a woman house surgeon. Senga Florence Whittingham, aged 27. is charged with the murder of a resident medical officer of the Dunedin Public Hospital. Dr. John William Saunders, on December 12, will begin in Dunedin on January 6. She made her second brief appearance in the Magistrate’s Court this morning, when she was remanded to January 6 by Mr J. D. Willis. S.M. The remand was accepted by her counsel, Mr A. J. H. Jeavons. on condition that she remain in custody in Dunedin. Detective-Sergeant J. Marshall appeared for the police. This morning Whittingham made her appearance in the Judge’s chambers in the Law Courts Building. She arrived at the chambers.by .a side entrance several minutes before 10 o’clock and was accompanied by the women’s probation officer. Major J. Hanaford, of the Salvation Army, and a policewoman. Constable J. McPherson.
