POWER STORAGE INCREASES

In the last week water held in store in the South Island for the generation of electricity has increased by 8,630,000 units. At 9 a.m. yesterday storage was 52,180,000 .units, compared with 43,550,000 units at the same time a week ago. Mr E. E. James, assistant district engineer of the State Hydro-electric Department in Christchurch, said yesterday that it had been rainihg in the back country on Sunday and yesterday, but he believed that it had not been heavy rain.
