ST. MATTHEW’S AMBULANCE CADETS
A socal evening and presentation of prizes was held to mark the twentyfirst anniversary of the St. Matthew’s St. John Ambulance Cadet Division. About 80 cadets, members of the Cranmer Nursing Cadet Division, andparents attended the function at the St. John Ambulance headquarters. After a cadet enrolling ceremony, the following trophies were presented by the district superintendent, Mr D. Sommerville:—championshp cup, D. J. Kinzet; Leach dress cup, B. J. Geddes: divisional efficiency cup, B. J. Geddes; Bulnois cup, for most improved junior nursing cadet, Hope Herron.
A presentation of flowers was made to the nursing officers, Mrs N. Dailey and Miss B. Sluice, and to Miss S. Boulnois, who is giving up cadet work. The anniversary cake was cut by a foundation member of the division and his son, Mr P. Gill and Kerry GilL Notifiable Diseases.—One death from
tuberculosis and four other cases of that disease were reported to the Department of Health from Christchurch last week. Also reported wei-e two cases of bacillary dysentery and one of undulant fever. A case of eclampsia was notified from. Greymouth.2
