INDIAN MINE DISASTER
MANAGEMENT BLAMED FOR DEATHS (Rec. 7 p.m.) NEW DELHI, Dec. 13. The Indian Labour Minister, Mr Khandubai Desai, told Parliament today that 65 persons died in the mine disaster near Nagpur on Saturday because the management ignored safety rules. He said authorities have abandoned all hope of rescuing workers trapped when water from an adjacent disused mine gushed into the pit where they were working in the Newton Chikhali coal mine at Parsia, about 100 miles from Nagpur, Central India.
