IMMIGRANTS FOR NEW ZEALAND

TRADESMEN SOUGHT IN EUROPE (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November fl. Tne Government is extending its overseas search for building and farm labour to Western Europe, including Western Germany. The Minister of Labour (Mr W. Sullivan) announced this in Auckland today. Mr Sullivan said he thought New Zealand might obtain 200 or 300 building tradesmen from Western Europe. AU would be carefully chosen “to make sure we get the right type,” and they would be medically examined. They would not be assisted immigrants, Mr Sullivan said. Married workers from Western Europe would have to be sponsored, with work and accommodation assured. Existing hostels could be used to accommodate the single workers.
