RUGBY PARK MEETING ATTEMPT ON RECORD FAILS Finishing with a rare turn of speed, P. Hack (Technical) won the special junior invitation mile at Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon in 4min 32.1 sec. The race was held to give Peter Kennedy (Waimate), who will soon become a senior, an opportunity of improving the 10-year-old record of 4min 30.4 sec, set by J. F. Oakley (Technical). Although light rain fell during the day. the track was in excellent An excessively fast first lap of Glsec possibly prevented a record time. The winner of the senior mile title at the secondary schools’ sports last week, B. W. H.
