LINWOOD HIGH SCHOOL
BOARD APPROVES PLANS FOR CLASSROOMS
Suggested amendments to the plans of the classrooms that will complete the teaching facilities of the Linwood High School have been approved by the school’s board of governors. At the board’s meeting last evening the headmaster (Mr B. H. Wakelin) said that it was essential that the building be ready by February 1, 1956, if the third form intake for that year were not to be drastically reduced to about 100.
The chairman (Mr K. A. Gough) said that a special .sub-committee had considered the plans, but had referred the lack of provision for the teaching of music to the Education Department. As a result of the department’s reply that provision was made in the proposed hall, and that it would already be some time before the classrooms were completed, the board approved a modification which allowed two classrooms to be combined for music classes by means of sliding doors. The board approved other minor adjustments suggested by Mr Wakelin and agreed that the plans should be submitted to the Post-primary Schools’ Council to be forwarded to the department. I
A letter was received from the department approving the expenditure of £665 on an implement shed.
