Italian Princess To Marry Soon
(Rec. 8 p.m.) LISBON. November 5. The former King Umberto of Italy said today that the marriage of his daughter, Princess Maria Pia of Savoy, to Prince Alexander of Jugoslavia will take place in February at Cascais, the seaside resort, west of Lisbon, where he lives.
In an interview reported in a Portuguese newspaper he denied that there were religious difficulties because Princess Maria Pia was a Roman Catholic and Prince Alexander was Orthodox.
He said that marriages between people of different religions were governed in the Roman Catholic Church by old and well-defined rules of canon law.
