HOSTEL FOR THE BLIND

Sir,—l am delighted to read of the generous donation by the committee of the Clothes Shop of £250 as a nucleus fund to build a hostel for the blind of the South Island. I am sure if a committee was set up to collect it would meet a ready response in the country. Recently a collector for a Christian organisation for youths called at our farm with a very good suggestion, which was, for a farmer, if willing, to give the proceeds of sale of any livestock. Some farmersin j One district gave lambs, vealers, and steers. Just what would anyone give to help the blind in such a muchP ee s® d , Project What a joy a hostel in Christchurch will be to those less fortunate folk, and may it be a beautiful, happy home that all may be justly proud of.—Yours, etc.,

COUNTRY FRIEND OF THE TT BLIND. Hawarden, November 7, 1954.
