Fallacy, was slow away, • and broke slightly, but had every chance. ; He finished equal last with True Parrish. ;| Arriba conLrmed his first-day running ; when he won the second leg. the Spring !« Handicap. [I The winning double, the Scottish StarLogan Fame bracket arid Arriba, paid I £lB 10s 6d for £l. There were 1583 winI ning 10s tickets in a pool of £17,743, of : which £5342 10s was invested on-course. The day was overcast but fine, apart from a shower before the seventh race. There was a good attendance. The on-course totalisator handled £52,645 10s. There was no second day for the spring meeting last year. Empire Handicap Scottish Star began best in the Empire Handicap, and was soon four lengths in front of Sisley Wood, with True Parrish, Rowan Star, Patrick Earl, Affable, and Chief Lochiel next, and 10 lengths to Fallacy, which would not pace evenly. Logan Fame, which broke at the start, was also at the rear. Scottish Star led Patrick Earl to the straight, with Sisley Wood and Rowan Star close up. Scottish Star was not extended to win by nearly a length from Patrick Earl. Sisley Wood was half a length back, third, with Rowan Star a good fourth. Next were Chief Lochiel and Logan Fame, with a gap to Affable. Arriba finished on well to win the Spring Handicap from the pacemaker, Fair Lead, and Scottish Song. Brighton’s Wonder was checked at the start, and Harr Sterling and Blacksmith failed to go away with the rest. San Maria was the early leader, but with a round to go Fair Lead was in front of Piccadilly Boy, King Worthy, Topaz, Arriba, Scottish Song, and Lille Bolero. Topaz went forward passing the halfmile, and coming to the straight the order was Fair Lead. Topaz, Piccadilly Boy, Arriba, and Scottish Song, with Linda Bridget next, wider out. The rest were beaten off.

Arriba was under pressure when bridging the gap to Fair Lead, but near the post he overhauled him and won comfortably.

Scottish Song was a fair third, beating the tiring Topaz by a length There was a gap of two lengths to Lille Bolero and Linda Bridget, one of five lengths to Brighton’s Wonder, and a further eight to Piccadilly Boy, then Blacksmith, San Maria, and King Worthy.
