CLUBS HOLD RACES The first race for the Hutchison Cud under the control of the Mount Pleasant Boating Club, was held on the Estuary on Saturday. It was won by D. Fineran’s Voriano, with M. Willyams’s Honey second and B. Loader’s Confident third. Races were also held by the ChristYacht Club. Results:— ,J ! c? lass ~J n \ pulse <B - WaU > !■ shadow (F. Simpson) 2. Z Class.—Zest (A. Manson) 1, Shier (J^JVren) 2 * Buck U P ( R - Hawkins) X The Stewart’s Gully club held the first race for the P class Canterbury trials for the Turner Cup at Stewart’s Gully. Result:—R. Ward’s Scram 1. G: Rothwell’s Scamp 2, S. Loader’s Gremlin X CANTERBURY CLUB’S RACES An almost flat calm at the start threatened the success of the two sailing races held at Lyttelton on Saturday afternoon by the Canterbury Yacht and Motorboat Club. However, the wind came away light from the north-east, and some interesting sailing resulted. The I class race for the Norris Cup was won by a new boat, Riband, off the 18mln mark. Results were:— X Class (started 2.30 p.m.).—Tempo (G. Moore), Xmin, 3.5429 pun, 1; Frith (G. Mander). ser. 3.56.53, 2; Silver Cloud (A. W. Shields), Imin. 3.57.49, 3: Genie (E. O.
