STUDY OF CHURCH AND INDUSTRY

MOVE BY PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 4. A group to inquire into “the structure of industry and its relationship to the Christian ethic, with a view to the later education of both Church and industry,” is to be established by the public questions committee of the Presbyterian Church. The decision to do so was reached at the General Assembly of the Church today, on the motion of the Rev. G. F. McKenzie, convener of the life and work committee.

The Rev. J. Kingsley Fairbairn (Gisborne) said it was time the Church got right into places of worj< so that the Christian faith could be brought right into the lives of men and women at work. He considered it a highly important move. His amendment for a special committee lapsed, unseconded, it being felt that a special group under the public affairs committee met the need.
