Acclimatisation Societies’ Meeting,
—Dr. R. W. Ualham will given an address on New Zealand water fowl problems when the Council of South Island Acclimatisation Societies meets in Christchurch on November 15. Mr G. R. Williams, a biologist of the Department of Internal Affairs, will give an address on the management of quail and chukor. San Francisco Cable Cars.—San Francisco citizens voted yesterday to retain a small cable tram system, but refused to restore three-quarters of the system that was discontinued early this year as an economy measure. The restoration proposal was rejected by vote of 86,797 to 54,959.—5 an Francisco, November 3.
