Fines for children who break bylaws on bicycles were advocated by the principal of the New Plymouth Girls’ High School (Miss A. R. Allum) at a meeting of the New Plymouth High Schools’ Board? She said it was a lot of nonsense for traffic officers to talk sweet nothings to Lilly and Mary about road rules when they did not take any notice. “It is the bad cycling habits that are making bad motorists for the future,” said Miss Allum. "It is about time children were taught that if they are to use public roads they should behave properly.” ,
