GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL ENROLMENTS
SUB COMMITTEE TO AID* PRINCIPAL Since the problem of selecting enrolments for entry at the Christchurch Girls’ High School had become too difficult for one person to handle, the school board of governors decided last evening to set up a sub-committee to assist the principal (Miss R. F. C. Tyndall) ifi the task. Each post-primary school board of governors had to make up its own mind on how it dealt with enrolments and zoning, said the chairman (Mr A. E. Caddick) in reply to a suggestion that the zoning of pupils for secondary schools should be done in co-operation with other school boards. “I don’t see how we can set a boundary at Christchurch Girls’ High School considering its situation in the town,” he said. Some time ago a boundary had been set whereby pupils who lived east of Barbadoes street were expected to go to Avonside Girls’ High School, said Miss M. Samuel. An enrolment sub-committee was set up as follows:—Mr A. E. Caddick, chairman, of the board, Dr. R. O. Page, deputy-chairman. Miss M. Samuel, a former headmistress, Mrs R. Glen, representing old girls of the school, and the principal (Miss Tyndall).
