U.S. SURPLUS PRODUCTS
Jugoslavia To Get Wheat (Rec. 7.30 pm.) . WASHINGTON. October 30. The Agricultural Department annqunced yesterday that it has firm commitments for the sale of 60,000.000 dollars' worth of surplus farm crops to Jugoslavia and Pakistan under a new Surplus Disposal Act. Wheat and cotton were said. to be the chief commodities involved. But officials said they were unable to give details of how much would go to each country. They said this must await the "completion of the negotiations.” The Under-Secretary of Agriculture (Mr True D. Morse) said negotiations involving an additional 400,000,000 dollars’ worth of surpluses were "continuing with several foreign governments.” He said these negotiations primarily involved wheat, corn, rice, cotton, tobacco, vegetable oils and dairy products. The sales to Jugoslavia and Pakistan would be the first since Congress last July authorised the department to sell 700,000,000 dollars’ worth of surpluses abroad in exchange for foreign currencies over the next three years.
