HALLOWE’EN PARTY
The Middle Watch of the Navy League made a departure from custom on Saturday night when it held a Hallowe’en party at Elizabeth House. The experiment was a great success with about 80 guests, who were received by witches and warlocks—members of the committee—and ushered into an eerie scene. Much work had been put into the nreparation of the appropriate setting with pumpkins, spiders’ webs, black cats, and witches painted on a frieze. All was lit by candles, and ments were served from a cauldron labelled “bats’ blood.” The proceeds of the party, about £lO, will be given to the Sea Cadet fund, which is strongly supported- by the Middle Watch.
