GREYMOUTH CLUB

EASY WIN FOR TRIPLE CROWN (From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, October 25. Triple Crown confirmed his good form on Saturday with a clear-cut win in the principal event, the Labour Day Handicap, on the concluding day of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s spring meeting at Victoria Park today. A firm favourite, the Prebbleton-owned and trained stallion began better than any of the others, and led over the first half mile, after which Grattan Bay dashed to the lead. Racing to the straight, Grattan Bay led from Triple Crown, Currency, Eeasydale, Ductile, Delia Grattan, and Silver Wood. Triple Crown had no difficulty in taking the lead again, and won with a lot in reserve by two lengths from Delia Grattan, with Silver Wood finishing fast into third place a length back, just shading Quite Obvious, with Ductile, Currency, Grattan Bay, and Easydale next. Pennyfare Wins Although not well placed in the running Pennyfare finished full of running from the straight entrance to win the Progressive Handicap, the second leg of the double, from the fast-finishing Count Grattan. Banbury improved to finish third, a length and a half back, just clear of Nightfall, which had msde the pace to the home turn. Then came Black Rose and Nona Grattan. Charlotte Bell fell at the straight entrance on the final circuit. T. Webster, driver of Banbury, was fined £l5 when the judicial committee found him guilty of careless driving and causing interference to Charlotte Bell.

Ductile won by a narrow half head from Delia Grattan in the Final Handicap.
