PROVINCIAL STROKE HANDICAP

A. E. ISON WINNER OF SENIOR GRADE A. E. Ison, of Avondale, won the Canterbury Provincial Golf Association’s annual stroke handicap match, played early last month. This match is one in which scores of golfers from Canterbury clubs take part. They p’ay on their own courses, and their scores are converted to a common scratch score of 72. Thus a player scoring 74 on a course with a standard scratch score of 73 has a better performance than one going round in 71 on a course with a standard scratch score of 68. Large entries were received for the contest, and for the stroke matches played in conjunction with it. There were three grades in both contests. Results: — Senior (0-8) Gross: A. E.
