DEATH OF MR D. C. KIDD
ASHES RETURNED TO NEW ZEALAND
The ashes of Mr D. C. Kidd, mem* her of Parliament for Waimate, wen brought back to New Zealand yesterday. Mr Kidd, who was leading < delegation from New Zealand to i conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in Nairobi, died in Kimberley in South Africj two days before the delegation’s tow was due to end. Mr Kidd’s ashes were brought bad to New Zealand by Mr W. A. member of Parliament for MorningtoS also a member of the delegation, who arrived at Harewood by Tasman Empire Airways DC-6 yesterday morning Mr Hudson said at the airport that he would take Mr Kidd’s ashes t« Waimate later in the day and delive his personal effects to Mrs Kidd. Mr J. K. McAlpine, M.P., was at the airport to meet Mr Hudson, who war also greeted by Mr J. Mathison, M.P. FUNERAL TODAY (From Our Own Reporter) WAIMATE, October 5. The Prime Minister (Mr Holland' will travel by air to Oamaru tomorrow on his way to Waimate to attend the funeral of Mr D. C. Kidd. Th# Cabinet will be represented by th«g Minister of Defence (Mr Macdonald® and The Minister in charge of PoUoH (Mr Fortune, and the House of Reprefe sentatives by Messrs T. L. HaymaiL (Oamaru)., J. Roy (Clutha), and R.GH Gerard (Ashburton). As a mark of respect to the memory of Mr Kidd, business premises in Wa;{ mate will be closed during the perioifc: of the service in Knox Church, froth', 1.30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
