Religious Bar To Wedding (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) NAZARETH, October 3. An 18-year-old girl, prevented from marrying the boy she loved, died to remain true to her beloved. The girl, Juliet Rashid, mdt Mohammed Abdu Deai, aged 20, at a Communist Party meeting and they fell in love. Family objections made life so difficult that they eloped to Haifa, hoping to force their parents into giving their blessing to the romance. But Christian priests refused to sanction their wedding unless Mohammed rejected his Moslem beliefs, and no Moslem would perform theceremony without Juliet changing her religion.

For three days the couple tried to convince people that falling in love had nothing to do with religion or politics. But they failed. Mohammed returned Juliet to her parents, who insisted that she should not marry outside her community. Juliet saw no way out. She was found hanged in her plain little room.
