PAPANUI BEATS BRUNNER IN STONE SHIELD The annual Rugby League match between the Papanui and Brunner teams, played at Papanui on Saturday for the Stone shield,. was won by Papanui by 42 points to 16. Tries were scored for Papanui by R Rothera (3), J. Rossiter, B. Wilkinson, P. Jamieson, R. Broadhurst, B. Campbell, K. Pearce, and R. Marsh. Campbell converted five tries and Broadhurst one. For Brunner G. Menzies, J. Clark, F. Haason, and J. Butterfield scored tries, and Menzies kicked three conversions.’ In a third grade curtain-raiser Papanui beat Brunner by 30 points to 14.
