LOWRY MEMORIAL TO ON PARADE (New Zetland Press Association) HASTINGS, October 3. After winning the sprint on the opening day of the meeting, Privy Council won the Hawke’s Bay Guineas in a thrilling and hard finish with Step on the second day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s spring meeting at Hastings yesterday. The winning double, On Parade-Gold Drive, paid £254 5s 6d for £l. On Parade surprised in the Lowry Memorial by beating the two most fancied horses, Lucky Caste and Programme, which finished second and third. The weather was fine and the track fast. The totalisator handled £63,228, compared with £59,147 last year, and for the meeting £122,026, compared with £113,295 10s last year.
