KAINGA FLOOD CONTROL
SUBSIDY FOR SCHEME REDUCED The Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council has reduced its rate of subsidy to the North Canterbury Catchment Board for the Kamga flood control scheme from £2 for £1 to £d for £2. The board yesterday decided to ask the Waimairi County CouncU to increase its contribution of £5OO towards the scheme by £lOO. Originally, the subsidy would nave mefnt that £l5OO of the required £4500 would have to be found locally. The cut in the subsidy will mean that the local contribution will. be increased by £lBOO. The Waimairi council previously agreed to pay a third of the money required locally. Other subsidies for works have been annroved as follows: Eyre river (Bower’s!, £2 for £1 on £2700: Oust river (piled protection), £2 for £1 on £l5OO- Waimakariri (north bank), £2 for £1 on £BOOO (additional work at to o» £3ooa - •
