SUBSIDY FOR SCHEME REDUCED The Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council has reduced its rate of subsidy to the North Canterbury Catchment Board for the Kamga flood control scheme from £2 for £1 to £d for £2. The board yesterday decided to ask the Waimairi County CouncU to increase its contribution of £5OO towards the scheme by £lOO. Originally, the subsidy would nave mefnt that £l5OO of the required £4500 would have to be found locally. The cut in the subsidy will mean that the local contribution will. be increased by £lBOO. The Waimairi council previously agreed to pay a third of the money required locally.
