OPEN TOURNAMENT AT RUSSLEY

MRS G. E. SINCLAIR WINS CHAMPIONSHIP

The championship at the Russley Ladies Golf Club’s open tournament, -which was continued at Russley yesterday, was won by Mrs G. E. Sinclair, with Miss C. Wood one stroke behind, and Miss V. Fleming, last year’s winner, three strokes behind. The Weather was fine and warm, and the greens were very fast. . A few players again reduced their handicaps. Miss Wood, who on Thursday reduced her handicap from 11 to 10, came down another stroke yesterday; Mrs E. H. Booker, whose handicap is 17, scored a net 73 (par of course 74), and Miss Phillida Gould, after reducing her handicap by five strokes on Thursdav, played two strokes under her new handicap yesterday. The following were the best scores in the two rounds of the championship:— Mrs Sinclair, 81, 83—164; Miss Wood, 82, 83—165; Miss Fleming. 82, 85—167; Miss U. Hennessy, 89, 87—176; Mrs N. Coxhead, 87, 91—178; Mrs A. H. Stubbings, 89, 90— 179. The junior cup was won by Mrs T. Charles, with Mrs G. Reid runner-up. The leading scores were:—Mrs Charles, 92. 96—188; Mrs Reid, 97. 100—197; Mrs T. H. Wiggs, 98, 102—200; Mrs J. Nicholls. 102, 100—202. In the second medal match, senior division, Mrs E. H. Booker and Miss C. Wood tied for first place, and Mrs Booker won on the count-back. Scores were:— Mrs Booker, 90, 17—73; Miss Wood, 83, 10—73; Mrs C. M. Lipscombe, 91, 17—74: Mrs M. Stewart, 92, 17—75. * In the junior division. Miss Gould was first and Mrs A. T. Stone second. The best scores were: Miss Gould, 102 A .30— 72; Mrs Stone, 99, 25—74; Mrs H. Cordery, 98, 22—76; Mrs M. A. Stedman, 96. 19—77; Mrs N. Bates, 110, 33—77. The teams’ match was won by Mrs Sinclair, Mrs Booker. Mrs F. Williamson, and Miss C. Wood. The same team won on Thursday. The Canadian foursome was won by Mrs K. B. Mabin and Mrs J. Fox (18), 1 up. Mrs R. Reid and Mrs G. Dysart were second, with a score of 1 down. Miss v - a Od Mrs N. E. Mathewson ana Mrs Taylor and Mrs Herdman were 2 down.
