SOUTHERN MAORI SEAT

KAUHANGANUI PARTY’S CANDIDATE (New Zealand Press Association!) ■ WELLINGTON, October 1. Mr Oriwa Haddon has been selected as the Kauhanganui Party’s candidate for the Southern Maori seat at the General Election. Mr Haddon is a son of the Rev. Tahupotiki Haddon, of Wanganui. He is a former Labour Party organiser, and was at one time an announcer fbr Station 2ZB.

He is a noted Maori artist and is a fluent speaker in both Maori and English. He served with the Royal New Zealand Air Force in the Pacific during the Second World War.
