IMPROVEMENTS AT CHATEAU

HOTEL TO 3E CLOSED - TEMPORARILY (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 14. The Chateau Tongariro would be closed temporarily after the Labour Dajc holiday week-end in October, the General Manager of the Department of Tourist and Publicity (Mr R. W. Marshall) said today. A report from New Plymouth yesterday stated that the Chateau would be closed for October, November, and December, to enable the management to carry out large-scale improvements, mostly to the interior. The Chateau is booked for a conference of 106 members of the Institute of Opticians from October 11 to 15. This conference will not be affected by the closing of the hotel.
