CATCHMENT BOARD LEVY

_ Sir,—Mr Tyler, Mayor of Rangiora, describes the North Canterbury Catchment Board’s levy as daylight robbery. No better description could be given. Does Mr Tyler know that £14,000 of the ratepayers’ money is going into a workshop at the bridge? It is time a few more pairs of running shoes were put on order and a few more practical men elected. I would urge Mr L. C. Walker, when he lectures at Waikuku, to view the mouth of the Ashley, if possible when the tide is out. Perhaps he would suggest something practical other than the concern of the few whitebaiters.—Yours, etc., x n, .... RATEPAYER. August 31, 1954. [The chairman of the North Canterbury Catchment Board (Mr R. M. D. Johnson) had no comment to make on this letter when it was submitted to him.]
