Peaceful End to Segregation.—-White and negro children went to school together in Hobbs, New Mexico, on Monday in harmony in one of the first communities where racial segregation had aroused talk of possible violence. The peaceful opening of the school year took place in spite* of a Baptist preacher, the Rev. William Carter, who organised a “segregation committee” and filed an abortive Court action seeking an injunction.— New York, August 30.
