POPULATION OF NEW ZEALAND
RISE TO 2,092,819 AT JUNE 30 (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 1. • During the last three months more persons have left New Zealand than have come here, according to a report today by the Government Statistician (Mr G. -E. Wood). The report, which covers the period April 1 to June 30, says that the excess of births over deaths was 8400, but migration and the movement of armed forces meant that the increase was 5097.
The report gives the population- at June 30, 1954, as 2,092,819, 128,424 being Maoris.
