WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS

• Rangiora.—Mrs Loffhagen presided over the August meeting of the Rangiora branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. Members were asked to support the C.0.R.5.0. appeal’by forwarding clothing to a central depot. Birthday sprays were presented to eight members. One new member was welcomed. 'lnvitations to attend birthday parties were received from the Southbrook and waikuku branches. Mrs Loffhagen presented a report on the recent conference at Wellington. It was agreed to send a donation to the community chest. Monthly competitions resulted as follows:—Knitted gloves: Mrs Nelmes 1, Mrs Hutchinson 2, Mrs Clive 3. Ginger biscuits: Mrs Nelmes, 1, Mrs Clive 2, Mrs Loffhagen 3. Small vase of mixed flowers: Mrs Thomson 1, Mrs Woods 2, Mrs Loffhagen 3. Members of the rose group were hostesses for theafternoon.

Diamond Harbour - Purau.—The August meeting of the Diamond Harbour-Purau branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held at the home of Mrs Pritchett, Church Bay, Mrs Wood presiding. Mrs Cotterill, of Meth ven, gave an interesting demonstration of floral decorations. Competitions results were as follows:—spike of spring blossom: Mrs Jackson 1, Mrs Jekyll and Mrs Pritchett (equal) 2, Mrs Wood 4. Fruit loaf: Mrs Jekyll 1, Mrs Wood 2, Mrs Gardiner 3. Knitted article: Mrs Ross 1, Mrs Clibborn 2, Mrs Olliver and Mrs Palmer (equal) 3. Wairakei.—Mrs F. Johnson presided at the monthly meetnig of the Wairakei branch of the Women’s Division of-Feder-ated Farmers. A talk was given by Miss Pengelly on the conference held in Wellington. Canterbury North Provincial Executive^— The bi-monthly meeting of ■ the Canterbury North Provincial Executive was held recently in John Knox Hall. Rangiora. with Mrs M. Frizzell presiding over a full attendance of representatives of branches. Motions of sympathy were passed with the relatives of the late Mrs Morgan, of Oxford, and the late Mrs Page, of Okuku, and the late Mrs Nutt, cf the Canterbury executive. An appeal for used garments for CORSO was favourably received, and members were asked to leave contributions at the wool store, corner Moorhouse avenue and Antigua street, between August 28 and September 17. Tpe conference delegates gave a resume of the annual conference. Mrs E. M. Gibson spoke on the Dominion president’s report, and on Honda, the Women* Division holiday home at Eastbourne, Mrs J. Frost outlined the work of the rest homes, a ** d Re tallick spoke on the working of Stratheona, the training centre for girls at Pleasant Point. Mrs W. Frost spoke on the election of Dominion officers. Mrs Bowman gave an account of the housekeeping work, and of the secretary’s treasurer’s reports and ’ balance finished by telling of tiie bits and pieces” of the conference. Members were reminded that on September 7, Mrs I. I* M. Coop would give an address on her trip to the Associated Country Women of the World conference at Toronto last year. Christchurch.—Mrs R. G.
