R. Casbolt) at a recent meeting. Apart from 60 dealers in Christchurch, the scheme extended to Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Ashburton, Timaru, and waimate. and it was arousing interest i in other New Zealand centres, he said. Of the 8000 bicycles examined so far, i about 20 per cent were definitely not roadworthy, said Mr Casbolt, and another 20 per cent- were classed as roadworthy, needing only minor repairs. The .other 60 per cent, could not be faulted, and required only minor adjustments. The total represented only 20 per cent, of the bicycles in Christchurch, said Mr Casbolt. He urged cyclists to take advantage of the free examination service while traders could service their machines. The authorities realised that only by enlisting the cooperation of cyclists could the scheme be made successful.
