PARLIAMENTARY DAY

(From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Aug. 31. The House of Representatives spent all today discussing departmental estimates. Although urgency was taken for the passing of a long list of estimates, the House sat for only five minutes after its normal time of rising, 10.30 p.m_ and then reported progress. The votes passed were: Earthquake and War Damage Fund, £37,500; Police Department, £1,780,000; Marine Department, £550,770; Transport Department, £485.000; and Public Works Accounts—soil conservation, £600,000; irrigation, water supply, and drainage, £700,000; roads, £950,000; Murupara development, £4,157,000; public buildings, £2,100,000; and maintenance of public works and services, £9,505,000. The House will meet again at 2.30 pm. tomorrow, when legislation will be debated. , _
