Inquiry Ordered Into Leakage
(Rec. 12.10 a.m.) MANILA, Aug. 31. The President of the Philippine* (Mr Ramon Magsayaay) today ordered a full and complete Inyestp. ration Into the leakage of the text of the American draft of the treaty. The Vice-President (Mr Carlo* P. Garcia), who 1* also Foreign Minister, said hi* department did not know how the leak had happened. The document wa* clatsified a* “top secret." The leakage wa* expected to rule out Manila aa likely headquarter* for the S.E.A.T.O. military planner* in favour of Singapore.
