PARKING OUTSIDE LIBRARY Brovision will be made for parking meters outside the Canterbury Public Library when the next phase of meter installation is being considered by the traffic committee of the Christchurch City Council, and 60-minute restriction signs will be erected in Cambridge terrace on the west side from Hereford street to Worcester street as soon as the signs come to hand. A similar sign will be erected in Tuam street, on both sides from Madras street to Barbadoes street and no-park-ing signs will be erected in Struthers Pedestrian Crossing.—Authorised pedestrian crossings will be installed on the Main North road, one at Meadow street to serve both the St. Joseph’s and Papanui schools, and the other at Northcote road. Woolston Footbridge.—When next year’s estimates are being prepared, consideration will be given by the works committee to a request for the erection .of a footbridge at Isis street, Radley, to give access 'to Woolston. Shortland Road Reserve.—Provision has been made for tennis courts to be constructed as soon as money is available on the Shortland road reserve. Permission has been granted by the reserves committee to the Wainoni Residents’ Association to proceed with the erection in the meantime of the pavilion, which will also be used as Plunket rooms. Sale of Land.—Te Rae Kura Park at Redcliffs, of 2 acres 1 rood 19 perches, will be advertised for sale. There was no reservation on the title. The proceeds will be devoted to reserves. Pictures Accepted.—Two pictures among the 15 oils and water colours and 37 other pictures bequeathed to the city by Mrs May Moore were accepted for hanging in the Robert McDougall Art Gallery. They are an aquatint “Bhnk Holiday” by Dame Laura Knight, and a dry paint ana aquatint, “A Venetian Festival” by W. Walcott A number of the S 3 pictures had been considered earlier with others bequeathed by the late Sir Joseph Kinsey. Big Electricity Loan.—Approval of the raising of an electricity extension loan of £150,000 at 4 per cent, for 10 years, with refinancing then of £75,000. was received from the Local Government Loans Board. The council made a special order for the raising of the loan. Boon Hay Amalgamation.—April 1 is the date the council considers should be the effective date for the amalgamation of Hoon Hay with the city. The council agreed to advise the Secretary of Internal Affairs of its decision.
