DEATH OF CLIMBER ON MT. EGMONT

FINDING AT INQUEST (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, August 30. An inquest into the death of Jennifer Jill Pease, aged 21, a daughter of Mr B. H. Pease, of Manaia, and a student at Canterbury University College, who was killed by a falling rock near the summit of Mount Egmont on May 15, was concluded before Mr N. F. Little, District Coroner, in New Plymouth. The Coroner found that death occurred from mischance. He said the dislodging of a rock by a member of a party higher up had been purely accidental, and the spot at which it was dislodged was so steep and rocky that nothing could be done to stop it from falling. Members' of the upper party had been warned by their leader about the danger of falling stones, the Coroner said, and when this one fell a warning had been shouted.
