SQUASH RACKETS

N.Z. ASSOCIATION HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Aug. 30. The 1955 New Zealand squash championships will be held on pie courts of the Remuera Club, Auckland, provided the gallery accommodation and other arrangements are suitable for the conduct of the meeting. This was decided by the New Zealand Squash Rackets Association, at its annual meeting at Invercargill today. The Remuera club advised that it would have two courts ready for play some time this year. Mr R. S. Mitchell, of Oamaru, was reelected president. The vice-presidents elected were Messrs J. A. Gillies (Invercargill) and W. E. Renton (Timaru). Mr A. D. Long (Palmerston) was elected honorary treasurer-secretary, and the mamagement committee consists of Messrs M. J. Rodgers, A. M. Johns, and E. Christmas. all of Palmerston North. A levy of 2s for each active member, except school juniors, is to be made in 1955 for the establishment of an overseas travelling, fund, and a further levy of Ms is to be made to -build up a trust fund to make loans to chibs for building new courts. „ , , _ Details of the visit to New Zealand of the British women’s champion. Janet Mor-, gan. and the runner-up, Sheila Speight, were confirmed. They will visit New Zealand from September 11 to September 26, and will give exhibition matches and practice sessions at most squash centres.
