HOCKEY TOURNAMENT AT GERALDINE

NEW BRIGHTON, HAREWOOD, SENIOR WINNERS Five grades took part in the annual w sjnen’s hockey tournament held by the Geraldine Sports Association on three grounds in the Geraldine Domain on Saturday. More than 50 teams took part from as far afield as Christchurch and Waimate. The men’s senior grade was ’ won by New Brighton B, the intermediate grade by Christchurch Technical Old Boys, and the junior grade by Emulous. In the women’s section the senior grade went to Harewood and the intermediate grade to Geraldine B. * At the conclusion of play the Mayor Results were:— Men’s Section Senior Grade.—First round: Wesley beat New Brighton A, 3-d; Cave beat Excelsior, 3-1; New Brighton, C beat Cambridge, 1-0. Semi-final : z New Brighton B beat New Brighton C, 1-0; Wesley, beat Cave, 3-1. Final: New Brighton B beat Wesley, 2-1. Intermediate Grade.—First round: Mairehau beat Bumham, 1-0; Lowecliff beat Timaru High School B, 2-0; Christchurch Technical Old Boys B beat Excelsior A 1- Second round: Cave beat Temuka B, 1-0; Christchurch Technical Old Boys A beat Temuka A, 1-0; Christchurch Technical Old Boys B beat Timaru Boys’ High School A, 2-1. Semi-final: Mairehau beat Cave, 2-0; Technical B beat Technical A, 1-0. Final: Technical Old Boys B beat Mairehau, 1-0.-Junfor Grade.—First round: South End beat New Brighton, lj-1; Timaru Technical a bye. Semi-final: Emulous beat South End, 2-0.
