ROYAL AERONAUTICAL SOCIETY

SECRETARY TO VISIT CHRISTCHURCH Dr. A. M. Ballantyne, secretary of the Royal Aeronautical Society, will arrive in Christchurch later this week. During his visit he will address the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand division of the Royal Aeronautical Society. From Palmerston North, Dr. Ballantyne will be flown to Wigram in an aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. On Saturday, if the weather is favourable, he will go on a scenic flight organised by National Airways Corporation. If the weather is not suitable he will ba taken on a motor drive and may fly with the Canterbury Aero Club. Early next week Dr. Ballantyne will visit the National School of Engineering at Canterbury University College. Next Tuesday evening he will speak at a meeting of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand divsion of his society, and the following day he is scheduled to leave for Sydney by Tasman Empire Airways DC-6.

Dr. Ballasftyne, who has been secretary of the Royal Aeronautical Society since 1951, was senior lecturer in the civil and municipal engineering department, University College, London, from 1936 to 1951. During World War II he served in the Royal Artillery and was attached to the Inspector-General of Armaments.
