CRIPPLED CHILDREN SOCIETY

Sir,—l am much puzzled at Mr J. Leslie Will’s report stating that the New Zealand society has never had any funds from the government, but has always stood on its own legs. What about the government-distri-buted art union profit every six months? Always on. the top of list is the Crippled Children Society which receives the biggeset amount, £lOOO, every six months. Why no mention of this in the report by Mr Will?— Yours, etc., J. KINNEAR. August 29, 1954. [When this letter was referred to the secretary of the Canterbury and West Coast branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society (Mrs D. Sergei), she said no money was received directly from an art union source for her branch. The money derived from art unions is sent to the executive council - of the society in Wellington, and is not sent directly to the 18 branches of the society in New Zealand, hence no mention was made in' Mr J. Leslie Will’s report. If the correspondent requires any further information he should write to the executive council, she said.l
