BADMINTON
N.Z. TEAM CHOSEN FOR THOMAS CUP (New Zealand Press Association) HAMILTON, August 30. The New Zealand badminton team to play in the Thomas Cup series agamst Australia in Australia in May of- next year was chosen tonight during the first North Island-South Island match conducted by the New. Zealand Badminton Association. The selectors (Messrs P. Hawkesworth, G. Neill, and G. F; Vincent) announced that J. E. Robson. A. L- Scott. P. D. Skelt, and A. T. Skelt would be the team. Robson is the only North Island player. The reserves are L. Shand ana C. L. Sheerin.
The Thomas Cup is played on the same lines as the Davis Cup. The New . Zealand team, if it beats Australia, will I meet the winner of the European zone in Malaya later in the month. The South Island, with One game : unfinished, was assured of a win against i the North Island after four hours’ play i in the inter-island match. South Island led-by-nine games to six. i
