MINOR FIRES

Five calls to minor fires were received by the Christchurch Fire Brigade yesterday. No damage was done by any of these fires. Calls to grass fires were at 3.20 pun., to the property occupied by Mr Charles Reeves, at 187 Lyttelton street, and at 3.47 p.m., to Marine parade, New Brighton. Units from Sydenham and headquarters stations answered the first call, and headquarters and New Brighton the other. The first chimney fire call, answered by units from New Brighton and headquarters, was at 739 a.m., to 17 Hood street, Nev/ Brighton, a house occupied by Mr N. J. Mcllroy. The other waA to 63 Office road, occupied by Mr Ernest Herring, and was answered at 10.49 am. by a unit from St Albans. At 7.13 pm., a call was received to a rubbish fire at 239 Colombo street where the occupier is Mr Charles Bovetts. The fire was attended by a unit from the Sydenham station.
