RESIDENTS’ PETITION A petition by 100 residents of the Linwood district asking for re-zoning, especially of the Phillipstown area, was referred last evening by the City Council to toe housing and town planning committee. In the meantime, no permits will be granted for further industries. Hie petition was presented by the Mayor (Mr B. M. Macfarlane, MS’.). He moved the motions, which were seconded by Cr. J. E. Jones. REGIONAL PLANNING SCHEME A resolution to unite with i- other local bodies to prepare a regional planning scheme was referred by the city Council last evening to toe town planning committee. Cr. W. S. Mac Gibbon’s motion wtas that the council unite with the Riccarton Borough Council, and the Halswell, Heathcote, Paparua and Waimairi County Councils in the. scheme. Representatives of toe. local bodies met yesterday to discuss the setting up of a regional planning authority. Cr. Mac Gibbon was chairman.
