COMMITTEE TO EXAMINE CHARGES AGAINST McCARTHY.—A Senate committee of three Republicans and three Democrats was named recently to examine censure charges against Senator Joseph McCarthy. The charges range from McCarthy’s attitude towards a Senate' inquiry into his financial activities in 1952 to his conduct as chairman of the Senate Investigating Sub-committee, including alleged abuse of witnesses. Here the committee poses with the Vice-President of the United States (Mr R. M. Nixon). Seated from left are: Senator W. Watkins (Republican), Mr Nixon, Senator Edwin C. Johnson (Democrat); standing from left: Senators Francis Case (Republican), Frank Carlon (Republican), John C. Stennis (Democrat) and Sam. J. Ervin (Democrat).
