TRANSPORT SERVICES DISLOCATED (New /.eaiana Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 15. A 75-mile-an-hour gale, accompaniea by rain and low temperatures, lasnea Wellington throughout most of the weekend. Damage in the city and the Hutt Valley was slight. It was confined mainly to the scouring out oi the Whiteman’s Valley road bridge a* Silverstream, and a number of minor slips. National Airways flights from Paraparaumu on Saturday evening were cancelled. The inter-island steamer express Maori berthed more than two hours late this morning. Power failures interrupted electric train services for 30 minutes this afternoon. In Lower Hutt, there was surface flooding. The electric train service w •the Hutt Valley was dislocated lines were blown down. . A new house in Northland had par* of its roof blown off. It was unoccupied.
