Archie Moore Retains World Title

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, August 13. Archie Moore retained his world light-heavyweight boxing championship by defeating Harald Johnson on a technical knofckout in, the fourteenth round. Moore was a 2 to 1 on favourite to win the fight at Maddison Square Garden and in the later rounds he piled up a good points lead after Johnson had scored in the early rounds. Moore staggered Johnson in the fourteenth with a right to the jaw and then floored the contender with a series of punches. Johnson got up at six, ran into another storm, and the referee halted the bout after 56 seconds. A crowd of 7000 saw the bout.
