PAY INCREASES IN NEW AWARD (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 12 Pay increases of 7s a week for mgn and 3s fid a week for women are incorporated in a new award for private hotel workers, issued today by the Court of Arbitration. The increases are general for cooks, kitchen hands, waiters, .porters, and all women workers. , , Non-resident workers on broken shifts will receive an extra Is IJd to bring shift money to 4s a week. The award, settled in conciliation, is to continue in force until August 11, 1956.

Body Found on Beach.— The body of a taxi-driver, Hugh Raymond Allen, aged 32, was found on the eastern end of Mission Bay Beach, Auckland, about 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mr Allen had been missing since August 1, and his taxi was found abandoned the following day.—(P.A.)
