SOUTH AFRICAN WAR VETERANS MEET
The .annual reunion of the third South African Contingent was held last week-end. The fifty-fourth anniversary of the contingent’s departure from Lyttelton was February 17 this year. It was reported that Mr J. L. Kerr, manager of the New Zealand cricket team which toured South Africa, met the contingent’s two surviving officers, Captain F-. Tucker at Kruger National Park, and Captain. L. Brown at East London. Of the surviving 20 members of the contingent living in Canterbury, those present were: Messrs A. Joseph, A. Harper, W. T. Lowe, W. Kidd, R. Macdonald, W. Tomlinson, E. Eggleston, C. Y. Ward; H. Gill. F. Bird, H. J. C. Harper, E. Lowe, W. Harrison, and A. Syme. » Officers elected were: president, Mr A. Joseph; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. Syme.
